Private drug rehab and addiction treatment center facilities can be a true life-changing experience for those who have the ability and luxury of affording to go. In fact, Kill The Heroin Epidemic Nationwide is very selective in which drug rehab facilities and addiction treatment centers we recommend and work with. At the end of the day, those who come to us for addiction treatment need the best help and we want to rest easy knowing that we’ve sent them to an outstanding drug rehab facility. But what about those who don’t have the right insurance plan or policy? What about the other 90% of addicts who can’t afford treatment?
Denying Addiction Treatment to the Uninsured and Cashless
Regrettably, not everyone suffering from drug or heroin addiction can afford rehab nor do they have the right insurance policy. What’s even more unfortunate is that the actual resources available for those who can’t afford it or have no insurance are few and far between. Those with state insurance may have a few more options but many suffering addicts end up on long waiting lists or simply don’t get the same kind of individualized care and treatment as those who go to a top private drug rehab facility.
Parents of Addicts End Up Panicking
The lack of resources and treatment for many suffering addicts have sent parents of addicts in a tailspin looking for just about any drug rehab facility that will take their addicted son or daughter. Most end up on long waiting lists or simply give up on getting help and continue using drugs in active addiction.
The Lucky Few Who Get Scholarships to Private Drug Rehab Facilities
A lucky few suffering addicts hit the lottery and end up at a private drug rehab facility on scholarship. But these are exceptionally rare and most are better off on waiting lists at free or state assisted addiction treatment centers than hoping for a scholarship to appear.
Not Enough Treatment For the Sick and Suffering
This is a major problem. The opioid and heroin epidemic is spreading and more and more men and women are not only suffering from the disease of addiction, but they’re dying from it. The heroin and drug overdose rate continues to increase each and every year. At what point and after how many more deaths will the politicians in charge finally say “enough is enough” and provide more state funding and resources for those who need and want help?
Most Addicts Do Want Help Conquering Their Addiction
Make no mistake – most men and women living in active addiction, after enough time has gone by where consequences have become paramount actually want help and treatment. But out of those that do, only a small percentage actually get addiction help. Why is this? Regrettably, many don’t know where to turn for help and many who do are turned away by organizations and treatment facilities because they have no money or insurance. So what are they supposed to do? Will themselves clean and sober? Hope and pray for a miracle?
Addiction Has Been Declared a Disease – Like It Or Not
Despite the fact that addiction has been declared a disease by the American Medical Association (AMA), the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and other reputable medical organizations, many still believe that addiction is a choice and that addicts should be sent straight to jail rather than mandated to treatment. Yes, addiction started with a choice to use a particular drug but most diseases start with choice don’t they?
Most lung cancer and/or emphysema patients chose to smoke cigarettes their whole life. Many diabetics chose a lifestyle of eating a ton of junk food without exercise. Did they think their lifestyle choices would result in a disease? Of course not! The same goes for addiction. Nobody who experiments and tries drugs thinks “I want to be an addict”. It just happens, unexpectedly.
Addiction is a Disease of the Mind, Body and Spirit
But unlike the others, addiction is a disease that consumes the entire self – the mind, body and spirit. Addiction destroys the mind, kills the spirit and rots the body. At no point during this process does an addict feel in control. The disease of addiction practically forces an individual to engage in activities they know deep down is despicable. Do you know how many women I’ve spoken to who used to prostitute themselves to some of the dirtiest people just to get their next fix? Do you know how many addicts lie, cheat, manipulate and steal so that they can get high or avoid getting dope sick? Do you know how many addicts hate themselves for what they’ve become?
Hope for Men an Women Suffering From Heroin and Drug Addiction
Private drug rehab facilities are great and those this community works with have been prescreened and are top notch. However, for those who can’t afford it, the good news is, treatment centers aren’t the only option out there. Yes, more state funded resources are needed for those who desperately need a bed for detox and to jump-start their sobriety. But there are other more affordable heroin and drug treatment options to consider as well.
For those who are truly serious about getting help and breaking free from the bonds and chains of addiction, our community is committed to providing resources that will help.
Addiction is a Disease….BUT…
Addiction is a disease and those suffering from it don’t feel like they have a choice. But addicts do have a choice before them. They can either choose to feed their disease by continuing to use drugs, or they can choose to starve their disease by reaching out for help. There are resources out there that can assist addicts in jump-starting their treatment and recovery.
