Legacy Village Recovery Centers Philosophy of Recovery

Legacy Village medical and treatment program is strategically designed to add structure into their client’s lifestyle during their time at the facility. This includes working with staff, engaging in productive lifestyle activities, attending and participating in therapeutic and educational groups and learning to make positive and constructive choices that foster long-term and lasting recovery. Experienced and dedicated staff assist in setting limits to facilitate optimal and effective addiction treatment.

Legacy Village is a Dual-Diagnosis Addiction Treatment Center

Legacy Village Recovery CentersCo-occurring mental health conditions are often present in men and women who suffer from substance use disorder. Typically, one mental health condition arrives prior to the other. Other mental health conditions can influence and exacerbate the driving force behind ongoing alcohol and drug use. In many cases, these underlying mental health issues are masked and hidden, resulting in improper treatment. Legacy Village has the staff and experience to treat dual-diagnosis clients and helps both the client and their families cope with and understand them, promoting healthy and successful living.

Despite the stigma that exists with co-occurring disorders, Legacy’s multidisciplinary treatment team and ancillary staff are trained to be sensitive and treat these issues. However, the key to living well is to make deliberate choices to live a structured, productive and meaningful lifestyle that includes reinventing and cultivating growth for the mind, body and soul.

What Legacy Village Recovery Centers Offers

30 Day Inpatient Program

This allows the client the opportunity to work closely with Legacy’s clinical staff to identify and implement a specific addiction treatment plan. This program caters to each individual’s needs. The one-on-one attention gives staff the opportunity to provide the best possible treatment for every client Legacy serves.

31 Days to 365 Days – Outpatient Program

Legacy enables their clients to experience new Independence in increments through this process. This helps build confidence when facing life with drugs and alcohol. Additional therapy sessions, treatment options, and counseling enhances their experience and increases their odds of success.

Long-Term Treatment Options

Legacy offers long-term treatment options, based on success from prior client experiences. The longer an individual remains in a treatment program, from inpatient through sober living, the higher the chances are of staying sober.

Sober Living Program

Sober Living allows Legacy’s clients to gradually regain confidence in their ability to function independently, without drugs and alcohol. Along with our sober living program comes an entire sober living community. This is where Legacy’s clients get to work with one another during difficult yet relatable times.

Many of those impacted by substance abuse or addiction have found it difficult or impossible to find good quality, yet affordable treatment in Kern County. Legacy Village has built a comprehensive program, from inpatient to sober living, in order to serve the needs of those who seek help.

Dennis Farmer

  • About Dennis Farmer
  • Dennis Farmer was raised in Shafter, California, a small farming town in Central Valley. At 24, Dennis took an entry level position with the State of California, and promoted through the budgetary and accounting areas to become the Head of the Accounting Department for Kern Valley State Prison. Experiences during his tenure included activation of two prison facilities, managements of budgets and fiscal policy, coordination with legislative accounting and budget affairs, internal control development and implementation, financial security audits, executive level administration of accounting, finance and budget policy.

Through his late 20’s, his struggle with alcohol became more pronounced; and by his early 30’s, alcohol began to affect his personal and professional life. After divorcing his first wife of less than two years, whom he shares a son with, he married for the second time. After less than two years of marriage, Dennis divorced for the second time, from his wife who he had a daughter with. His addiction to alcohol was becoming even more significant in personal choices, though he had not yet come to accept that he had a problem. At this point, even his professional life began to suffer, so he checked into a facility for the first of three stays in rehab. It would be the third and final stay that finally “stuck” and when he began the real process of recovery. This recovery stay lasted 60 days. This was truly the first time he embraced the recovery process, the 12-steps and most importantly, his reinvestment in his faith. Upon arriving for treatment, he was down to 135lbs with pancreatitis and an enlarged liver. He knew was just steps away from losing his life.

It was during his time in treatment that the idea of Legacy Village was born: a vision for an accessible, affordable place where people received quality treatment, assistance and sober living. A full circle of recovery-related services that can support the individual, and foster a real community-feeling among the clients and alumni.

After leaving the state of California, Legacy become his primary professional pursuit. Over the past two years, Legacy Village has developed into the example of treatment and recovery services available today. Today, Mr. Farmer is remarried and with his wife, Erica they are proud to actively participate in life, including with his son, daughter and two step-daughters – a prospect unthinkable during the grips of addiction.

”It is with an unapologetic faith in God, and a daily adherence to the 12 steps, that I remain sober – just for today, and that I’m able to actively participate in Legacy and in Life. Through the services we offer, I’m able to give back, the solution that I found, to others who still suffer. We’re not just providing help or a way to get clean or sober – we’re giving people a change to recreate a Legacy, for them and their families.”
